Vista vs. Kenningwell FC ( Away )
Today Vista FC faced Kenningwell in what was a great battle. Vista FC started the game at a great tempo and seemingly controlled the opening 15 minutes with great tempo from our midfield. As always with Kenningwell their pace, power and speed are never to be taken for granted and Vista fought ferociously to maintain them as best possible.
Kenningwell used there pace in wide areas as a weapon and threatened to score but great concentration from Danny Doyle and great positioning from Steve Hanley kept the score at 0-0.After about 20 minutes a powerful drive from Kwabena Osei was finished off with a great 30-yard strike from the midfielder who’s domineering performances have been highly noticeable.
Unfortunately for Vista shortly after Mario Campbell went off with a hamstring injury, which really upset the balance and allowed Kenningwell to get into the game.
For a period of roughly 10/15 minutes Kenningwell completely dominated and were causing Vista many problems of which we were unable to resolve quickly. After continuous pressure Kenningwell were rightly rewarded with a goal but possibly in the most unfortunate way for ourselves. What initially was a harmless cross somehow deflected in catching our defense off guard.
After the restart Kenningwell continued to cause pressure and again managed to cause problems down our left flank with the cross evading Vista players and falling to a Kenningwell player who finished coolly. At half time Vista went down 2-1.
After the restart Vista managed to regain some control and for the next 45 minutes both teams really countered with ferociousness. The midfield battle really became a technical haven of which full credit must be given to both teams. Players were often seen breathing heavily and making important tackles in order to regain control of the game.
Vista continued to apply pressure mainly by attacking players Siao Blackwood and Ashley Sheppard who were the main attacking threats for vast amounts. While being critical of our performance other attacking players weren’t able to maintain the level of the two players named and that meant although Vista presented a threat they weren’t able to really carve out many clear-cut opportunities.
The game ended 2-1 of which possibly was a fair result but we still believe we could have got something from the game. Special credits to Kenningwell player Taurean Roberts who was a constant threat all game.
