Vista FC VS Ex Blues ( Home )

On the form Vista FC are on it would have been easy to get carried away with our recent results but Vista FC are becoming more aware of their previous flaws and via experience learning to graft as well as use the quality we possess to win games. Ex Blues are a well-grafted team and last years PCC champions so we had to give them every respect. Despite Vista FC making changes to the starting line up and resting some of our usual first 11 the game started well. Martin Onuhua is determined to show his quality and after 10 minutes in the game some great link up play between Ohran Stewart and himself led to Martin volleying the ball downwards in the penalty area beating the Ex Blues goalkeeper. At this point Vista FC seemed very much in control but probably believed the game was won. This allowed Ex Blues back into the game and indeed they did. Over the course of 20 minutes they threatened many times and it was no surprise when they were rewarded with their goal. Vista FC found it hard to regain control and stamp their authority and from the sidelines it seemed as if substitutions were needed. Fortunately Vista were able to hold on and some great attacking play from Aaron Southard down the wing resulted in him putting in a cross for Ohran Stewart to arrive fashionably late at the end of the box and drive the ball home.

The game played out evenly at times but Vista’s quality shone through on many occasions. Changes early in the second half changed the balance of play and a settled core allowed stability once again. The work rate and vision of Aaron Southard coupled with the technical finishes of Ohran Stewart were successful on two other occasions with the final finish a controlled dink while one on one towards the end of the game. Possibly the goal of the game was a 30 yard diagonal pass from Mario Campbell into the path of Dominic Weston who guided the ball home and reminded us just how great a player he can be when his mindset is right. A few missed chances from Vista FC in the final minutes was probably fair as anything over 5-1 would not have truly reflected the game. Over the 90 minutes it was probably a comfortable victory for Vista FC but missed clear-cut chances from Ex Blues was probably their downfall as they battle valiantly.

M.O.M – Ohran Stewart
