This game of football can be so unforgiving but even more so when you face players of high quality. This is especially the case with Kumazi. So far Vista had a great start to the season but we were particularly lucky against Greencourt so going into this game a few things had to be corrected.
We started off strong and within 5/10 minutes our fluent passing and moving of the ball was creating problems. The width troubled Kumasi and we were able to get in behind numerous times. Despite creating these opportunities our goal came courtesy of a penalty won by Victor Okisor which was soft but still possibly the right decision. Victor Okisor dispatched. From here on we created possibly 6 chances all of which weren’t converted, and I believe this is where the game turned.
Kumazi aren’t the type of team that gives up and this was illustrated in the warm up. Our play became naïve and we took unnecessary risks that resulted in us putting ourselves under pressure. The usual 5-yard passes became 25/30 yards and this meant that we had to work hard to retrieve the ball. For the second season running Gerald Okosa punished us for our errors and before we knew it we were 2-1 down.
Our play still was a little disjointed but we were hoping to return to our form of the first 25 minutes. By now Kumazi had also become comfortable on the ball and we were taking slight risks to get into the game but a 3rdgoal for Kumazi changed the whole game. After this Vista went gung-ho and threw ourselves in attack hoping to gain some momentum and recover the deficit. We were able to score once but in all honesty could have scored more if not for great defending or goalkeeping.
A frustrating loss due to the fact we started well but Kumazi deserved this one due to the way they recovered from the early onslaught and the way they managed the game.
