Greencourt 4 – 5 Vista FC

A well-spirited Greencourt with a bare 11 nearly knocked us out of the Paul Picard Cup but a resilient fight back ensured that we didn’t lose to a team who on paper we were expected to beat. A large pitch meant that we would have assumed it would have suited us but Greencourt fought hard and worked smart and created numerous chances. We made numerous chances but were expected to perform better than we did. Slow build up play suited Greencourt and we weren’t prolific, as we would have expected.

The second half we performed much better while switching back to our original formation but frustration got the better of us while Greencourt capitalised managing to take us into extra time. Here we missed tons of chances and Greencourt probably had the easiest chance of the game managing to head onto the post from one yard out which would have sealed the game. We took this opportunity to fight back and the onslaught of attacks tested their fitness and we were able to find a way back into the game, and then a winner.

We were very lucky and may not get this opportunity again but the result is the most important.2 wins to start the season is the start we would have hoped for!
