Similar to boxing I believe that styles make for interesting battles or dead contests. Mayweather may well arguably be one of the best boxers ever but his style doesn’t always flatter. Vista are a fast counter attacking team but every so often we come up against a team that stifle our ability to reach our full potential. Coming off the back of a disappointing draw against Mildean were we were leading in the 90th minute and missed a host of easy opportunities the last thing we wanted was to throw away this game but for long periods it seemed to be possible.
Our performance was very dull and our movement off the ball was very sluggish. Oakwood made it very awkward for us to perform and I also felt that our midfield who had been exceptional for long periods of the season so far where well off the required standard. Even though they didn’t threaten dangerously there were times when a final smart decision may have led to Oakwood scoring but our backline and goalkeeper held strong. In games like this it’s often a bit of quality that can define a game and that’s exactly what we were provided with. Omari Hibbert grabbed two goals to once again justify the effort we went through to bring him to Vista. He went from playing as a touchline winger to a free role where his smart decision making and positioning caused Oakwood many problems.
Now that’s he’s been able to find consistency in his work/football life Aaron Southard has found form that made him one of the leagues most prolific strikers as Centre sports. Aaron is a prolific poacher and sniffer of goal chances, which he proved once again by grabbing another 2 goals.
Oakwood were no pushovers and managed to grab two goals also in this game but Vista’s quality proved to be just that bit too much for them to really stamp their authority and the game finished 4-2.Not our best performance but you can’t be expected to play well every game and with the win we had something to build on.
