Vista 0 – 2 Bickley

This has become a game that many look forward too. These are two of the most competitive teams in the league who have fought for domestic monopoly over the years. There has been so many classic games involving the two teams and as we imagined this would most likely prove the same, and it was.

The game started with an exciting tempo and if we’re being honest Bickley probably operated at slight a higher tempo and were the most likely to score. Despite this Vista remained resilient and hoped to catch them on the counter attack, but as always Bickley remained similar to a wall of steel. There didn’t seem to be too much difference between the teams and a goal would probably have had to come via something special. Given both teams remained with equal players things may have proved different but the competitive nature of Danny Doyle proved to be one of the decisive factors. Two aggressive but unneeded tackles led to a red card and a lack of forward threat was always going to backfire on us.

We managed to make it to half time at 0-0 but with fewer players Bickley would use this to their advantage. Despite the 1 man advantage it was a highly peculiar goal that broke the deadlock. A corner was punched away from Steve Hanley to the outside of the box fell to Baz Ogoro who we’re assuming has never struck the ball cleaner then he’d ever done in his life. A great volley, which worked it’s way into the top corner past a box full of both team players and our keeper. There are times when you just have to hold your hands up and accept the goal you’ve conceded and this was that time.

Vista had a few chances to equalize but Bickley grabbed there second and after that there was minimum that we could do. A few bad choices defensively and a wonder goal were to be the decisive factors in the game. A well-earned win for Bickley but this was one we felt we could have won.
